“Before it’s finished, good writing always involves a sense of discipline, but good writing begins in a sense of freedom, of elbow room, of space, of a challenge to grope and find the heart of the matter.”
— Saul Pett, Associated Press
Prologue
Welcome to the realm of rambling, the den of discourse, the abode of argument and advice, the wilderness for word-nerds. My name is Hope Darby, and like any good freelance writer, I am a devout lover of words and conversation. Fiction or non-fiction, magazine articles or short stories, long prose or bad poetry–whatever your poison, you’ll find it here.
I may shine the light on the various comedies of living in the South, or make you blush with something scandalous. My socio-political pieces may not jive with my “How Tos” and advice columns. A student of all genres and someone who enjoys a good debate, I can guarantee is a hodgepodge of topics and titles, slants and tones, sprinkled with a bit of controversy and childhood here and there.
